Acro Yoga Jam - Koha Entry
Join us for an Acro Yoga Jam this August - just an easy Koha/Donation for entry.
When - Wednesday, 19th August
Time - 7pm - 8.30pm
Where - Kanuka Yoga Space
Cost - Koha / Donation
This will be suitable for all experience levels; whether you're brand new and have never tried it, or whether you practice regularly and looking for a space / others to jam with this will be for you.
Bring an Acro buddy along, or come solo and we can pair you up on the night. Again, no previous experience is necessary, although having a basic understanding yoga postures can be useful.
Starts at 7pm
(after the 5.45pm Power Flow)
What To Expect On The Night?
We'll provide some basic warm up routines to get you going and we're happy to float around offering basic tips and help if you're trying something new.
With all our Acro Yoga events, we highly encourage everyone to work in threes - one base, one flyer and one person spotting. Safety first =)
If you're going for that photo opportunity, then just make sure the spotter jumps out of the way in time.
What Is Acro Yoga?
It's a physical practice which combines yoga and acrobatics - don't let the word acrobatics put you off; like with all things, you can control what you try, and don't try; always start slow! Generally speaking:
One person is lying flat on their back with legs lifted - The Base
The other is lifted and moving around on the other person feet / hands - The Flyer
The third person is watching everything unfold, with arms out at the ready to catch / support any falls - The Spotter
When you become more comfortable with Acro Yoga moves, you can begin to draw on traditions of circus arts, cheerleading and dance acro.
