What Are Mala Beads?
Mala is a string of beads used to support your practice of meditation.
Long Mala has 108 beads and short Mala has 27 (a derivative of 108); these are sacred numbers in Yoga.
About Yoko Micromacrame Art
I (Yoko) was born and raised in Japan where there is a strong legacy of traditional culture, and where people have a huge love and respect for hand-crafts that are inspired by nature.
I believe that we humans are gifted to be creative and are part of nature, so I have always been passionate about arts and crafts.
My intention is to create something that communicates the harmony and beauty between human creation and nature.
I love to practice yoga and meditation everyday, and I found that Mala beads support me to concentrate better in meditation. With the encouragement of friends and family, I decided start creating Mala beads for others too.
What's Included?
Yoko will provide all materials and expertise for you to create a personalised 27 bead Mala:
Crystal beads
Natural wooden beads
Threads to create Mala and tassel
She will also share Japanese green tea in a short ceremony either at the beginning, or at the end of the workshop. Matcha (Green tea) has a lots of benefits for the body and mind.
We look forward to sharing space with you this June.
Kindly,
