Myth of Core Stability, with Kylie Rook

We're incredibly grateful to welcome Kylie Rook back to Kanuka Yoga Space for another informative workshop experience.

Kylie is an absolute pro when it comes to sharing new, relevant learnings from her journey - she is ever evolving and discovering new concepts to share with those interested.

The Myth of Core Stability, with Kylie Rook, is aimed at anyone wanting to improve their balance, reduce low back or SI joint pain, and anyone with pelvic floor issues; which could be anything from prolapse to an overactive pelvic floor which is often seen in men and type A individuals or those that do Bandhas too aggressively.

What To Expect?

Using approximate timings, Kylie will start with a 30min of lecture on the function of the pelvic floor, common issues, its role in stability and in particular core stability. Why dysfunction here can set us up for low back pain, balance issues, breathing issues and even voice problems. Also, how over-use of the bandhas can be problematic.

We'll then move into around 45mins - 1hour of relaxation work; somatics, MFR, breathing and awareness poses to bring awareness to how it moves and also release tension held there.

Moving onto more active poses learning how the pelvic floor co-contracts with other muscles around the hips and how we can utilise this in our practice.

Ending with a relaxing restorative body scan to again fully relax the pelvic floor and the breath.
