This weekend workshop is a deeper dive into yoga beyond asana. We will explore yogic philosophy and how this ancient wisdom mapped out and addressed what we know of the nervous system today.

Explore the 8 limbs of yoga and the direct parallels to the modern day lens of polyvagal theory, neuroscience, and trauma.


We will weave in embodied practices with discussion on culture, history, and science. You will leave with an individualised yoga practice to address your own unique nervous system.


This two-day workshop will be led by Raquel Minh, Kanuka Yoga Space studio owner and Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator, alongside Asrita Singh, a registered counsellor trauma-trained specialist with a diploma of Yoga Teacher Training. She brings her ancestral knowledge of Indian heritage.


This workshop is great for:

  • Students with a yoga or meditation practice who want to bridge the gap between modern day language and sanskrit

  • Wellness facilitators who use breathwork, meditation, movement and would like to ground their offerings in indigenous wisdom

  • Participants who are curious about their own nervous system and what a trauma-informed approach could mean for their practice

Gunas & Doshas: Polyvagal Theory (Discussion & Journal)

Chakras: Vagus Nerve & Fascia (Restorative Yoga & Discussion)

Vinyasa Flow: Polyvagal Theory (Practice & Discussion)

Who are your facilitators?


Studio owner and teacher, Raquel Minh, has a degree in Psychology (2009), and completed her 200 hour Trauma-informed Yoga Teacher Training with Raw Yoga (2020), 60HR Trauma-Informed & Community Yoga with Rise (2021), and 300 hour Trauma-Informed Facilitator Training with SomaPsych (2024). She is passionate about re-indigenising wellness practices and is on a journey of reclaiming ancestry as a Mexican-Vietnamese.


Asrita Singh – received her degree in Psychology and Applied Mental Health (2012), has a Postgraduate Degree in Addiction Studies (2019) and a Postgraduate Degree in Violence and Trauma Studies (2022). Asrita completed a Certificate in Group Facilitation and Programme Development with AUT (2010) with 15 years of group facilitation experience. 


 Asrita holds a full Registration with DAPAANZ as a Registered Counsellor, Registered ACC Sensitive Claims Counsellor including a provider for Group Based and 1-2-1 Yoga Therapy with Grief Centre. Asrita has accumulated 15 years experience specialising in the area of trauma. Asrita has completed a 1200 hour Diploma of Yoga Teacher Training with Wellpark College (2012), 18HR Yoga for Healing Trauma Teacher Training (2018). 


She draws from her ancestral knowledge of Indian heritage.
