Open your mind and heart to the ancient stories of the Bhagavata Purana to unearth the cultural and historical context of your yoga practice.

Yogic stories have been told for thousands of years, and we're grateful to carry on the tradition with Kathamrita Devi-Dasi.

This is an evening of storytelling held within a rare symbolic window in the sidereal Vedic calendar: when Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter are understood to align in Gemini, forming what is called a Saraswati Yoga — an atmosphere associated with learning, refined speech, creativity, and the transmission of wisdom through sound.

There will be a story told from the Bhagavat Purana, time to reflect, connect and discuss together as a group.

This is an invitation to come and explore spiritual sound — its power, its purpose, and how it is capable of shaping consciousness itself.

Explore this approach to yoga beyond physical practice!  We will make space for journaling, meditation, and time for group discussion, reflection and realisation.

About your facilitator:

kathamrita devi-dasi

Kathamrita Devi- Dasi is a Vedic storyteller, yoga teacher, and Bhakti practitioner based in West Harbour, Auckland. Her work brings together a rare blend of artistic training and deep spiritual discipline.

She spent 18 years training and performing in dance from the age of four, before studying Dramatic Arts at university, where she specialised in directing, scriptwriting, and collaborative storytelling. Alongside her theatre training, she developed a dedicated yoga practice that eventually led her deeper into the Vedic tradition.

In 2013 she entered a women’s ashram in Toronto, Canada, undertaking seven years of rigorous monastic training in meditation and Vedic philosophical study alongside a disciplined devotional practice, including several periods of advanced study in India. This immersive training was rooted in regulative practices that brought theory to life.

Now a mother of two, she is passionate about sharing the wisdom that shaped her early life. Through storytelling, movement, and philosophy, she brings ancient Vedic narratives to life in a way that is engaging, authentic, and accessible—offering others a doorway into the depth, beauty, and transformative power of ancient India's wisdom culture.
