/// About The Workshop ///
In Ashtanga Yoga, especially in the Mysore Style Practice, hands-on adjustments are one of the cornerstones of this practice. Adjustments are targeted and with a clear intention. They need to be subtle and efficient, empowering and respectful of the student’s body and energy.
Why are we giving adjustments in Ashtanga Yoga?
Adjustments can be effective in allowing the body to soften and to open. This means it is about supporting the person to find the space in their body to soften into the asana, never about forcing a body to go where it is not ready to go.
Adjustments can show the students what they can do in order to one day achieve on their own.
Guiding the student’s energy is another intention of adjustments. In Ashtanga Yoga, every pose has a particular drishti (gaze point) which is meant to help the mind focus, but also direct the energy, setting the asana’s intention. We can then adjust to show to the students this direction. These kinds of adjustments are very subtle, a gentle pull or turning of the head is often enough.
In this workshop Luisa invites you to come along and receive adjustments in your Ashtanga Yoga Practice to deepen your practice and to learn the subtle way of hands-on adjustments, and tune-in a little bit more into your body and the journey of Yoga.
We also will go deeper in the concept of drishti (gaze point) in exploring the theory and then implementing it straight into the asana practice.
We look forward to sharing space with you soon!
Kindly,
Kanuka Yoga Space
