Mums + Bubs Yoga is a great way to venture away from your home, into a safe and nurturing environment to focus on your own wellbeing and recovery, as well as providing a welcoming space to have your little close by; knowing you can tend to your baby when needed and enjoy some me time.

Think of this as a sanctuary where you can reconnect with your body, bond with your baby, and find a supportive community of fellow mums.

What are Mums + Bubs Yoga Classes?

Mums + Bubs Yoga classes are specially designed to cater to the unique needs of new mothers and their babies. These classes provide a safe and nurturing environment where mums can bring their infants along for a yoga session that benefits both parent and child.

The classes typically involve gentle yoga poses that focus on postpartum healing, core strengthening, and overall relaxation, all while incorporating baby-friendly elements. A series at Kanuka Yoga will have a focus on:

  • Restrengthening and balancing the pelvic floor and core

  • Stretching out tight shoulders and chest

  • Postures and breathing techniques to manage stress

  • Rejuvenative postures for when you haven't slept

  • Connect with other mums and make new friends

  • Share insights and wisdom to help navigate new mamahood with more ease

Who are classes best suited to?

Classes are best suited for little ones who are not yet crawling and mothers who are 6 weeks postpartum (natural birth) or 9 weeks (cesarean).

Babies are generally not included in the yoga sequence as this is such a great time and space for Mums to focus on their own wellbeing, however there will be times where infants are included in the posture, or sequence; special bonding time!

Our teacher (Megan) will help calm babies during Savasana with the gentle sounds of our rainstick, singing bowls and chimes, giving you all the rest and relaxation you need.

We have taken some time to create an 'About Mums + Bubs Yoga' page which will give you some more information about the benefits for Mums, and Babies during these special classes.

You can visit our About page here - About Mums + Bubs Yoga Classes.

Best Tips for a Successful Mums + Bubs Yoga Experience:

  1. Check Class Details: Ensure that these class is suitable for your baby's age and developmental stage.

  2. Come Prepared: Pack essentials like diapers, feeding supplies, and a cosy blanket or cushion from home to keep your baby comfortable (we have props available in the studio as well).

  3. Follow Your Baby's Lead: Babies can be unpredictable. It's okay if you need to pause your practice to tend to your little one's needs.

  4. Enjoy the Moment: These classes offer a unique opportunity to create lasting memories with your baby. Embrace the joy of practicing yoga together.

These classes provide a holistic approach to postpartum well-being, ensuring that both mom and baby thrive during this beautiful and transformative phase of life.

We look forward to sharing space with you soon.

Kindly,
